Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: A total of 18 new projects covered by industrial licences have entered into production in Abu Dhabi at a total value of AED 746.7 million during the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.

The number industrial licences that entered into production increased by 12.5% in the Q1-2020, compared to 16 licences in the same period of 2019, according to a report by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Department of Economic Development (DED).

The licences include 12 in Abu Dhabi and three in Al Ain and Al Dhafra.

The chairman of the DED, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, commented that Abu Dhabi government is keen to enhance the emirate's industrial sector to achieve sustainable economic development by strengthening the role of foreign direct investments in the manufacturing sector.

Al Shorafa added that the manufacturing sector contributed to the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices with 6% and to the non-oil GDP with 12% in 2019.
