Pakistan Business Council Dubai, a non-profit trade organisation registered with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industries, unanimously appointment Mahmood Shaikhani as Member Board of Directors. Mahmood is prominent businessman and is the managing director of Dubai based Shaikhani Group.

To attract more businessmen to the Pakistan Business Council and its awareness activites, the board gave additional responsibility to Mahmood Shaikhani as Chairman of Membership Committee.

The Pakistan Business Council (PBC) registered members are over 500 and represents over 3,000 businesses established in the UAE. PBC plays a business advisory for Pakistani and Emirati investors to expand into UAE and vice versa.

The current UAE-Pakistan trade volume is slightly over Dh33 billion that includes Dh22 billion UAE exports to Pakistan and Dh11 billion Pakistani exports to UAE. At present, Saudi Arabia is the first while UAE is the second biggest source of home remittances that are a major source of Pakistan’s external balances and foreign exchange reserves.

Mahmood Abu Baker Shaikhani, 41 and a business graduate, is dynamic business personality in Dubai with an ambition to increase the UAE-Pakistan trade volume.

“Pakistan Business Council is mandated with boosting the trade between UAE and Pakistan. My first assignment would be to meet with all members and brainstorming about how the two-way trade can be increased and in what business areas. I believe, apart from popular rice and agricultural produce, there lies a huge potential of Pakistani leather, sports, food, meat and IT products that could be exported to and from the UAE and re-exported to other countries as the UAE provides the world class port and logistics infrastructure for trade and exports.”, he said.

Mahmood Shaikhani has been instrumental in managing the operations of Shaikhani Group across 90 countries. He has been a integral part of the group’s successful journey as the group marks its 30th year celebrations worldwide. Mahmood has demonstrated his entrepreneurial acumen in an array of industries including Trade, Retail, Manufacturing, Real Estate, IT and Automobiles.

He is associated with elite clubs and organisations such as Pakistan Association Dubai, Dubai CEO Club, Dubai Chamber, International Chamber of Commerce, and lately the Director of Pakistan Business Council. He also heads philanthropic organisations like: The Shaikhani Foundation, World Memon Organisation, Rabia Charitable Foundation and All Pakistan Memon Federation.
