Dubai, UAE: Art and travel fans were invited to embark on a journey of discovery recently as ‘Unknown Places’, a unique photography exhibition from Lufthansa, made its Middle East debut in Dubai. Hosted in the city’s Alserkal Avenue as part of the airline’s #SayYesToTheWorld campaign, the show presented a collection of ten unpublished images with the goal of inspiring and encouraging people to discover the world with their own eyes.

‘Unknown Places’ was created by Lufthansa and photographed by the acclaimed Italian artist Davide Calluori and his studio, B612. The exhibition gathers a series of photographs of incredible destinations with a twist, and poses the intriguing question ‘Have you ever been somewhere first?’. The mysteries of the pictures are then revealed in a fascinating multimedia presentation that accompanies the exhibition, to the surprise and delight of attendees.

Each of the composite digital images was created by combining shots from different locations to produce convincing representations of ‘Unknown Places’ that are like nowhere else on earth. A reflection on the power of photography, the exhibition seeks to establish a sense of wonder among audiences, and examines what makes a picture stand out among the constant stream of images that people are exposed to on a daily basis.

Kristina Oestrom, Marketing Director EMEA, said: “We are delighted to host Unknown places in Dubai. Lufthansa believes that humans are born explorers, through this exhibition we hope to inspire you to ask yourself questions over and over again. To be open to new pathways. To Say Yes to the unknown. Yes, to change and yes to a world full of possibilities”.

Kristina continued: “Travel broadens our horizons and provides an opportunity to marvel at the beauty of the world around us. The essence of a journey is in the eye of the beholder, those who have experienced something firsthand. It is our hope that everyone who has explored ‘Unknown Places’ will be inspired to ‘say yes to the world’ and choose to embark on their own voyages of discovery.”

Having previously enjoyed successful runs in Italy and France, ‘Unknown Places’ made its regional debut in Dubai on the 17th of September and will continue until the 18th. The exhibition was hosted at Concrete on Alserkal Avenue, a thriving artistic hub in the city’s Al Quoz district
