Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Rania El-Mashat, announced that the House of Representatives approved three development financing agreements worth $259 million.

These agreements are aimed at supporting the country's development efforts in higher education, women empowerment, and the power sector, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The House of Representatives approved a loan worth JPY 25 billion ($238 million) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to develop the electricity sector as part of the economic reform programme.

In addition, the parliament also approved a EUR 12 million ($14.5 million) loan and a grant worth EUR 2 million ($2.5 million) from the French Development Agency (AFD) for the re-establishment of the French University in Egypt.

Moreover, a sub-agreement between the Egyptian and Canadian governments was approved for the implementation of a project to support women entrepreneurs in Egypt with a value of CAD 5 million ($4 million).
