The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) is offering a tender for the construction of two transformer substations in Marsa Matrouh and Mahmodiya with a capacity of 500 kV next month.

The Head of EETC Gamal Abdel Rahim said that the transformers are part of the expansion plan to be carried out by the company to transmit the electrical capacity to be produced. The expected cost of constructing the two stations is EGP 1.6bn.

He added that the tender prospectus will be completed within three weeks, and the tender includes two packages. The first includes engineering, design, manufacturing, testing, supplies, civil works, tests on site, and operation.

The second package includes supervision of the supply, installation, testing, and operation. The duration of implementation of the stations is 12 months from the date of contracts completion.

In parallel, the EETC is selecting between Hyosung and Xdegemac to contract on the establishment of the Eqtisadiya transformer.

“We have begun the technical and financial analysis of the two bids, and we are expected to complete the examination of the documents and awarding to the winning company by the end of the month,” he noted.
