Dubai, UAE : CAFU, the leading fuel delivery and vehicle services platform has teamed up with Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends for #PINKtober. The partnership to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research throughout the month of October allows CAFU customers who place a fuel delivery order on the CAFU App to add a donation, which will help fuel the vital work of the Foundation supporting women across the UAE.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women and the most common of all cancers in the UAE, accounting for 222 deaths last year, steadily increasing over the last three decades. The statistics for breast cancer in the region reinforce the critical need to generate awareness on a larger scale as chances of survival increase by 95% if the cancer is detected early.

Stressing on the importance of business-led community initiatives, Nabra Al Busaidi, the Community and Sustainability Manager at CAFU said, “As a community driven business, we are proud to partner with Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends. This partnership is deeply rooted in our core values and demonstrates our commitment to being a company that is passionate about making life better, and continues our work to drive positive change to support the women of our community through breast cancer research, early detection, and treatment.

“By working together, we can help make a difference to so many women in the UAE from the generosity of our customers who feel passionate about helping others. Over the years we have seen several examples of the powerful impact that customer led initiatives and campaigns can have on helping our communities."

“Breast cancer remains one of the most serious health challenges affecting women globally and our only hope to improve survival rates is to invest in medical research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been championed in the UAE for over 20 years with the pink ribbon standing as a strong symbol of hope. Every year during October our #PINKtober campaign, in partnership with Brest Friends, receives overwhelming support from schools, corporates, retailers, sports clubs and community-led organisations to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer treatment and research in the UAE. #PINKtober events have the power to bring communities together to champion important causes and we are proud of our partners’ extraordinary efforts to make a difference to the lives of women affected by breast cancer.” - Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, Chief Executive Officer, Al Jalila Foundation

“We have all been affected by breast cancer in some way, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to bring the community together to fight breast cancer, honour patients and survivors, and remember the people whose lives have been cut short. It is also a month that symbolises hope that the disease can be beaten and we will not stop until a cure is found. I take this opportunity to remind everyone that breast cancer awareness should not be limited to the month of October and call on the community to keep the message alive all-year round. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of early detection, do not wait until October to take action. Early detection makes a big difference in the treatment of the disease – it saves lives.” - Dr Houriya Kazim, President & Founder, Brest Friends.

As part of their commitment to give back to the community, last month, CAFU provided 100 low-income families in Ajman with free fuel and also donated IT Equipment to Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association for Persons with Disabilities. This donation supports children in classrooms to ensure that every child continues to get the best standard of education during these unprecedented times.

CAFU continues to play a role in supporting local communities across the UAE, from collaborating with Dubai Ambulance to offer free fuel to frontline workers during the Covid pandemic, to partnering with local entities to support blue collar workers and low-income families during the holy month of Ramadan.

To donate, download the CAFU APP, place a fuel delivery order and add a AED5 donation to Breast Cancer Awareness before confirming the order.
