ABU DHABI- Borouge, a leading petrochemical company that provides innovative, value creating plastics solutions, showcased its latest range of differentiated polyolefin grades for infrastructure, energy and advanced packaging applications at PLASTEX, the 16th International Middle East and North Africa Exhibition for Plastic Industries, being held at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in Cairo from 18th - 21st January.

Ahmed Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President Regional MEAE, stressed the importance of Egypt to Borouge as one of the fastest growing polymer markets and the largest consumer in Africa and the second in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia.

"The Egyptian plastics market is important to Borouge. We have a long history in this market going back to 2002 with our very first order for products from our site in Ruwais placed by an Egyptian customer who still buys up to date. I am proud to say we have a loyal customer base in Egypt which we are keen to meet their needs.

Borouges team introduced PLASTEX visitors to Anteo , the newly-launched product that is produced for the first time in the UAE at Borouges plants in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. Anteo is a new family of linear low density polyethylene, LLDPE, packaging grades for the global packaging market. It boasts a unique combination of end-use properties for high-performance film applications such as easy processability, better sealing integrity and improved puncture resistance in combination with strong optics for enhanced shelf appeal.

Borouges global reach and position as a provider of choice of reliable and sustainable plastics solutions that create value to customers business and competitiveness were also highlighted at the event. Borouge demonstrated its expansion investments including Borouge 4 complex which will more than double the current capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per year of polyolefin by 2025.

Inspired by its mission focusing on value creation through people and innovation, Borouge inaugurated in 2015 an Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi that allows the Company to better support its customers and respond to their specific needs through the development of value-added polymer solutions and customer technical support.

The Centre focuses on developing new innovative plastics solutions for the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging industries in close cooperation and partnership with Borouges customers throughout the value chain.

Borouge also organised a number of technical seminars focusing its innovative solutions for energy sector such as cross-linkable polyethylene, XLPE, used as insulation materials for power cables. The seminars also highlighted various applications of Anteo such as lamination films for food packaging, Heavy Duty Shipping Sacks and stretch hood films. Borouges infrastructure solutions such as PE100 to make durable plastic pipes were also underpinned.
