One of the largest real estate developers in the kingdom yesterday announced the commencement of work on the 12.2sqkm man-made island city’s entrance junction.

As part of a plan to improve accessibility to residents and visitors alike, work on traffic signals are underway allowing quicker and easier access to the integrated city.

Reconfiguration works began at the beginning of December 2020, for an estimated duration of 9 months.

Eastern Asphalt and Mixed Concrete Company was appointed to build the junction over 5 phases, which are expected to be completed by third quarter of 2021, while ensuring smooth traffic movement throughout this period.

Commenting, Mr Alammadi said, “It is our pleasure to announce the commencement of the junction reconfiguration of Diyar Al Muharraq which aims to provide residents and visitors with facilitated access and ease of movement to major facilities surrounding the main entrance. This step coincides with the readiness of a number of key residential, commercial and touristic attractions in the city, which will increase the influx of visitors to the city overall. We look forward to completing this vital conjunction soon to provide more convenience to residents and guests of Diyar Al Muharraq.”

Upon completion, the reconfigured junction will serve to better facilitate the flow of traffic by easing the movement of vehicles to the major points of interest in the vicinity of the main entrance.
