Dubai: H.E. Mr Philip Frayne, Consul General, Consulate General of the United States of America in Dubai visited Al Maya Supermarket, informed Mr Kamal Vachani, Group Director Al Maya Group.

Group Director of Al Maya Group Kamal Vachani informed the Consul General that Al Maya Group imports a large number of FMCG products from the United States of America and wants to expand its products portfolio from the US. They also discussed ways to further enhance the trade between US companies and Al Maya Group.

According to the US Department of Commerce, the UAE currently is 28th largest goods trading partner of the United States with $24.3 billion in total (two-way) goods trade during 2017. Goods exports totalled $20 billion; goods imports totalled $4.3 billion. The US goods trade surplus with UAE was $15.8 billion in 2017.

US total exports of agricultural products to UAE totalled $1.1 billion in 2017. Leading domestic export categories include: tree nuts ($301 million), hay ($89 million), prepared food ($88 million), snack foods nesoi ($63 million), and beef & beef products ($62 million.

The Consul General mentioned during the visit to Al Maya Supermarket, “I am very much impressed with Al Maya Group’s activities and efforts in stocking and distributing large varieties of US products in the UAE.”

Al Maya Group, the UAE-based business conglomerate, has more than 50 supermarkets in the GCC countries in addition to other businesses.
