Dubai, UAE : The 19 panel discussions and seminars that Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised on the third day of the 23rd Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS), focus on renewable energy in the Middle East. Senior executive officials in solar energy in the Middle East, and leading experts and professionals worldwide, including from DEWA’s Innovation Centre, participate in these sessions.

DEWA is organising this exhibition under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) from 5 to 7 October 2021 at Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Founder and Chairman of WETEX and DSS, said that the exhibition is an ideal opportunity for participating companies to build and explore partnerships; gain access to regional and global markets and expand into the region. He also highlighted the exhibition’s role in enhancing the position of Dubai and the UAE in the green economy, sustainable development and conservation of natural resources. The event attracts a wide range of manufacturers and decision-makers to discuss the challenges related to environmental sustainability, energy and water conservation, research into alternative energy to achieve sustainability, and enhance clean and renewable energy.

The ‘Energy Efficiency in Food Sector’ session will highlight the importance of reducing Energy Demand and Green House Gas Emissions in food sector, and the role of using smart energy and energy efficiency technologies in sustainable food processing to reduce food production cost. ‘The Digital Utility: Creating High Performance Enterprises’ session sheds light on the latest trends and opportunities related to the transformation of traditional utility businesses into high performance digital enterprises empowered by geospatial information system (GIS) technology. The ‘Environment-Friendly Lead Sheath Alternative for 132 kV Cables’ session discusses the main reasons to think about replacing lead with a proper alternative in the cables.

NOW EVOCARGO;’ ‘Long Term-Pre-Qualification of EHV Cable including High Temperature loading to Simulate Emergency Operation Capability’; ‘HYBERMACH – Hybrid Energy Machine’; ‘Network Intelligence for Active Network Management’; ‘Laminated Aluminium Tape the Preferable Choice for Radial Water tightness’; ‘The Role of AI & Technology in Energy & Environment’; and ‘Thermal Energy Storage: A Key Enabler for the Full Transition to Renewables’;

The session ‘The Present and Future of Solar Energy in the Middle East’, discusses ways to reduce solar industry costs, the impact of the pandemic and the role of the solar industry in powering an economic recovery. “The Future of Renewable Energy: Trail-Blazing Solar Research and Development” session focuses on DEWA’s Innovation Centre research and development insights and projects. It also provides a glimpse into what’s next for solar energy. The ‘Energy Storage: Deepening the Decarbonisation of Power Generation’ session sheds light on multiple energy storage options and their deployment to mitigate the variability of renewables and drive forward the decarbonisation of energy. The ‘Distributed Solar Energy Solutions’ session highlights the combination of tools and technologies for energy to be generated at the same place where it is used.
