Dubai: Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), one of the leading banks in the UAE, was the first bank in the UAE to organize a COVID-19 vaccination drive for all its employees and their families, its support staff, as well as its partners, as part of its commitment to safeguard the health and wellbeing of its employees and customers.

Phase 1 of the vaccination drive was initiated last month and hosted in partnership with MediQ Healthcare with more than 1,800 staff and family members receiving the first dose of the vaccine. This included senior management, frontline staff, security guards and cleaners. The 2nd dose of the vaccination is scheduled for next week.

Dr. Bernd van Linder, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Dubai, said: “Since the beginning of this global pandemic, Commercial Bank of Dubai was committed to taking prudent measures to safeguard the health and wellbeing of its workforce. Our Covid-19 vaccination drive is a continuation of our efforts, highlighting our commitment to putting employees first, and to support the tireless efforts of the UAE government to boost immunity and mitigate the spread of the virus across the UAE.”

Dr. Partha Banerjee, CEO of Al Mazroui Hospital and Chief of Patient Management of MediQ Healthcare, added: “We have seen how the pandemic has impacted the world economy, but the UAE has been proactive and taken immediate steps to secure the health of its citizens and residents by providing easy and free access to the vaccine to the entire nation. The UAE leaders have also set a great example to the public by taking the vaccine first to reassure residents on the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.”

CBD also extended the vaccination drive to include one of its key business partners, NGI, to participate in the programme. This has enabled NGI’s employees and their families to receive the vaccination at the CBD Head Office as well.

Dr. Abdul Zahra A. Ali Al Turki, CEO of National General Insurance, said: “This is a great initiative. There could be no better place than this facility to take the COVID vaccine at CBD premises. It is comfortable, well-organized, and offer a personal care, nurturance and great respect to everyone coming in. We are thankful to CBD and its management and the entire organizing team that has arranged this in-house amazing facility and offered a warm welcome to all NGI staff and their families”.
