Dubai: This summer youngsters from the UAE and overseas can enjoy a fun-packed three-week academic and cultural experience by enrolling in some off-the-beaten-track short courses at the International Summer School launched by Canadian University Dubai (CUD) at its campus.

Open to local and overseas participants aged above 16, the courses have been designed to teach practical work-related skills while expanding their global networks, with the added incentive of site visits to key UAE landmarks, such as Le Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Etihad Museum, indoor theme parks and desert safaris.

The International Summer School of CUD will run from June 9 to 26, 2019, offering a clutch of exciting and contemporary programs in innovative topics – such as Launching a Startup in 24 hours, learning Korean, Robotics and VR, Sustainable Engineering Designs, Conversational Arabic, Database Fundamentals, Cultural Branding, Bioinformatics, etc.

The three-week program is unique for its wide-ranging curriculum, which will be delivered through a hands-on approach that will enable participants to put their learning directly into practice. The summer school targets a mixed group of local and international participants.

For those living in the UAE, the Summer School is an opportunity to enhance their professional profile and to connect with participants from different backgrounds from around the world. It will be particularly beneficial to high school students who can experience a university environment and develop new skills during their transition to higher education.

Dean of CUD’s Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences, and organizer of the Summer School, Professor David Santandreu Calonge, said, “With courses covering business, technology, architecture, design, language, culture, and more, we have purposefully created a unique curriculum that offers something for everyone. As the program allows participants to select up to two courses, some of them never taught in the UAE before, it is also an opportunity for participants to step out of their comfort zone and try something out of the box.

“With this comes the added value of the unique visitor experience that Dubai has to offer those joining us from overseas, as well as the global exposure and networking opportunities that a program like this brings. Such international experiences are increasingly important in a globalised workplace and our International Summer School is the ideal opportunity to make these connections.”

The Summer School will take place from June 9 to 26, 2019, at the CUD campus in downtown Dubai. Participants can choose up to two courses: one in the morning session and another in the afternoon session. Bus transport is being arranged by the university.
