Cairo - Mubasher: The Suez Canal will receive South Korea's HMM Algeciras, the world's largest containership, the Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced in a recent statement.

The 24,000-TEU-class vessel will pass through the canal as after negotiations between Egyptian transport minister Kamel El-Wazir and the Korean global container HMM and line agent 'Kadmar Shipping Company'.

The discussions came on the sidelines of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Assembly, held in London in late 2019.

HMM Algeciras is around 400 metres in length, with a beam and depth of 61 metres and 33.2 metres, respectively.
