The Sharjah Road and Transport Authority (SRTA) has completed road construction and improvement project to enhance internal road networks in Abu Shaghara.

Youssef Saleh Al Suwaiji, Chairman of the SRTA, announced that the authority has just completed road improvement in Abu Shaghara as part of its annual plan to raise the efficiency of roads of the emirate. He added that the road improvement projects aim to expand, develop and modernise road networks in all parts of the emirate in order to ensure access to the highest levels of comfort and safety for residents.

Mohsen Balwan, director of the roads maintenance department, said the project included amending the internal roads in Abu Shaghara, and converting all streets from single lane to double lane, to achieve ease and smooth traffic flow.

Balwan pointed out that the SRTA used the space earlier occupied by the used car showrooms in the area to develop the roads. He emphasised that the project would help reduce pressure on the road network in the area, and facilitate entry and exit traffic during the peak hours.

He explained that the project included modifying the sidewalks, realigning asphalt layers and modifying the ground marking signs to avoid confusion.
