Work on the massive East Hidd Town project is on track, with most units nearing completion. Housing Minister Bassem Al Hamer yesterday inspected progress of the development scheme, accompanied by Under-Secretary Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa and other officials.

He said that work on the Bushaheen neighbourhood, which includes 398 units has reached 80 per cent, compared with 91pc for Om Al Sawali which features 375 units. Main construction work at Al Qulaiat neighbourhood, which includes 740 units, has also been completed.

Work on the phase of the Al Ezl neighbourhood has reached 61pc, providing 271 units, compared to 56pc for the second phase, which includes 507 units.

The minister said that the infrastructure work for the whole residential development project is 80pc complete, adding that units will be handed over to eligible recipients once complete.
