Experts to discuss the challenges and the future of e-health in the Gulf States

Dubai, Under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, the third edition of the GCC Healthcare Innovation Congress and the second edition of the MENA Health insurance Congress starts on Monday in Dubai, in cooperation with the Executive Board of the Health Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the support and sponsorship of a number of major health associations and IT corporations, including Saudi Association for Health Informatics, American Health Information Management Association, Orion Health, TPP, Sunquest and DELL.

This flagship event includes interactive panel discussions around the challenges in health informatics as well as opportunities and the future of e-health in the Gulf countries, and standards needed to ensure easy flow of information between health authorities that adopt e-health system to improve services and patient experience and improve the efficiency and quality of work in health institutions and insurance companies.

The congress will feature senior representatives from the ministries of health in the GCC countries and more than 70 regional and international experts in the sector, including: Prof.Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja, Director General of the Executive Office of the Council of Health Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Gregory Raglow, Group Health Informatics Director, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company - SEHA, Dr. Amir Mehrkar, Chief Clinical Information Officer, EMEA, Orion Health, Dr. Chris Bates, Head of Informatics and Analytics, TPP, Visiting Research Fellow, The University of Leeds, Talbott Young, Middle East Professional Services Managing Director, Dell, Dr.Osama Hassan, Head of e-Health Section Health, Data and Information Analysis Department, Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Ahmed Balkhair Advisor to the General Director of Makkah Region Health Affairs, Ministry of Health, KSA, Dr.Hussain Albishi, Deputy Minister's Consultant for HIM / Clinical Coding - Ministry of Health KSA .

Highlighting the importance of health informatics in the region, commented Dr. Gregory Raglow, Group Health Informatics Director, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company - SEHA said "I cannot underestimate the importance of health informatics. For example, in our system (Malaffi) every order and every record is in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System. Everything I know about the patient beforehand is in there and everything that gets done for the patient is transmitted through this system. These systems map to a very complex process. Informatics tries to bridge the gap between the Clinicians and the IT systems that they are using."

The expert speakers will focus on a number of key topics related to the sectors of innovation and health insurance in the Gulf, such as the challenges of health informatics systems and risk management in the medical care and electronic medical records, enhance medical care and improve the services provided to patients by improving sanitation and adoption global standards, strengthen health insurance systems through e-health data analysis, operational efficiency in the health care system to reduce costs in the health insurance sector.
