Muscat - OCTAL, has recently achieved the internationally-recognized Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) standard certification, OHSAS 18001:2007, from Intertek, a leading global quality assurance solutions provider to industries worldwide. Validating the company's commitment to introducing a systematic approach to occupational health and safety and ensuring the wellbeing of all its employees, the accreditation empowers OCTAL to constantly assess workplace hazards and implement preventative measures as part of day-to-day operations, further promote a safe and healthy working environment as well as improve overall performance.

Last year, the world's largest producer of PET packaging materials achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management System recertification of its Resin and Sheet Plant with zero nonconformance; passed its second ISO 9001 Surveillance Audit for its Sheet Plant and attained its first ISO 9001 Surveillance Audit for the company's Resin Plant.

"The OHSAS 18001:2007 is based on the 'plan-do-check-act' management process, and has been designed to be compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards," said Mohammed Ali Al-Aamri, HSE Manager at OCTAL. "We recognize that Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) are paramount to our people's welfare, our success, our customer satisfaction and the communities in which we operate. The certifications ensure that OCTAL complies with the highest global standards to prevent harm to people and the environment while guaranteeing business sustainability."

OCTAL places great importance on HSE while consistently delivering high quality products to a large domestic and international customer base. The company employs approximately 600 staff in primarily technical positions and each and every person is fully trained for their role as part of OCTAL's dedication to provide a safe and professional working environment for employees to thrive.
