Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA - Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said on Monday that Iran and Oman will cooperate in selling oil products.
Zangeneh made the remarks following his meeting with Oman Oil Minister Mohammad bin Hamad al-Rumhy.
Zangeneh told reporters that construction of Iran's gas export pipeline was on agenda of negotiations today and the two sides underlined speeding up the project.
He said that feasibility study for pipeline project has started in parallel with the study works to speed up the construction and financing the project.
Zangeneh said that Omani government is interested in cooperation with Iran in the field of development of oil and gas projects and that Iran welcomes the proposal and is hopeful the cooperation with Omani companies will expand.
Simultaneously with visit of Omani minister to Tehran, a contract for feasibility study for construction of gas pipeline was signed by Iranian companies.
Upon the contract, study on marine sector of gas export pipeline was by Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company and the contract was signed between Managing Director of Iran's National Gas Export Company and Managing Director of IOEC and Director General for planning and project assessment of Oman Oil and Gas Ministry Saif bin Hamad al-Salmani.
Study on land sector of the gas export was undertaken by Pars Consultant Engineering Company and its contract was signed.
According to the agreement, some 28 million cubic meters gas is due to be exported to Oman through Persian Gulf pipeline for 15 years.
The two governments reached agreement in 2014 about construction of the pipeline.
The contact worth around 60 billion dollars.
