Cairo – The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) have launched a new programme for building the capacity of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC).

The programme includes three training courses for banking transactions related to cargo import, preparation of financial statements, and management of commercial procedures related to cargo receipt, the Minister of Planning, Hala El-Saeed, said in a statement on Tuesday.

A total of 44 trainees from the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade and the GASC will be enrolled in the programme

The ITFC has approved $200 million to help the country secure imports of basic commodities, the CEO, Hany Sonbol, said.

The total value of funding provided by ITFC to Egypt has reached $11.207 billion.
