Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation on Thursday announced that it will sign a deal with an international company to buy six passenger trains by the end of April in an effort to boost the Egyptian National Railways’ (ENR) train fleet.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will fund the transaction in a bid to develop Egypt’s railway system, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry will hire an advisor to formulate the documents of a tender to purchase 100 new locomotives.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between Egyptian transport minister Kamel El Wazir and Janet Hackman, executive director of EBRD for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region.
