BEIRUT: A high-ranking delegation from American company General Electric Wednesday expressed interest in strengthening Lebanons power infrastructure during a meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The delegation provided an overview of the comprehensive solutions the company can offer to support the development of Lebanons energy sector, from clean, renewable energy to ... efficient, flexible new power plants that can run on gas and liquid fuels, a statement from Hariris office read.

The delegation included U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard and was headed by GEs president and CEO for MENA and Turkey Nabil Habayeb. Also present were the companys Iraq and Levant President and CEO William Wakileh, and its director of government affairs and policy in the Gulf Sandra Helayel.

According to the statement from Hariris office, the delegation reiterated its commitment to supporting Lebanon ... and partnering on the infrastructure development plans outlined by the government.

GE stressed that its strong footprint in the region would make it an excellent partner in strengthening Lebanons power infrastructure.

Last Friday, Lebanon launched a prequalification round for companies interested in building two new power plants. GE, Mitsubishi and Siemens have expressed interest in participating in Lebanons new electricity plan.
