DUBAI- Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, chaired the 56th meeting of the Supreme Council, which discussed a number of topics, including the progress in the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 programmes, which aim to reduce the demand for electricity and water by 30 percent by 2030.

Those at the meeting also discussed the progress of the central district cooling plans, and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030. They additionally reviewed the work of the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading, which was formed under directives from the Executive Council of Dubai and is overseen by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

The meeting saw the attendance of Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Energy, and other board members, including Dawood Al Hajiri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality; Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of the Emirates National Oil Company; Waleed Salman, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Nuclear Energy Committee; Nasser Abu Shehab, CEO of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority; and Frederick Chemin, General Manager of Dubai Petroleum.

"To support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the transformation to a sustainable green economy, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy works to achieve the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to produce 75 percent of Dubai's total power output from clean energy sources and to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050," said Al Tayer.

"We reviewed the progress of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 to increase the number of hybrid and electric vehicles in the market. Dubai was a pioneer in this and has implemented this strategy in government departments in the emirate to promote the sustainability of the UAE," added Al Tayer. "The meeting discussed the work of the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading. Producing and trading petroleum products is one of the key operations in Dubai. It made tangible contributions to the emirate’s GDP," noted Al Muhairbi.
