JEDDAH: Alstom Grid and National Grid SA of Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the two companies will cooperate in developing and advancing electricity infrastructure in the Kingdom on a long-term basis.

Mohammad Al-Rafaa, VP engineering of National Grid SA, and Michel Augonnet, SVP commercial solutions of Alstom Grid, signed the MoU at a ceremony organized at the Alstom Grid Headquarters in Paris.

According to the MoU, the two parties will cooperate in the fields of standards and specifications, engineering and design, maintenance and operation, technical exchange forums and technology roadmap.

This cooperation between Alstom and National Grid SA covers the main equipment such as HV switchgear, power transformers and substation automation solutions, including protection and measurement IEDs, digital substation, smart grid and supergrid applications, network management and maintenance.

Additionally, this MoU includes a range of training courses conducted by experts from the Alstom Technical Institute, providing National Grid SA engineers with the optimum level of technical information adapted to their day-to-day requirements.
