Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) was honoured today (Thursday) by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), in recognition of getting 11 ISO accreditations for its labs within one year only.

The Ministry of Health boasts today the largest network of ISO-certified labs in the region with total lab accreditations of 14.

Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Centers and Clinics Sector, as well as representatives of EIAC and Pure Health, the largest Laboratory Operator and Healthcare Solutions Provider in the UAE.

Another milestone

Congratulating the ministry’s staff on this achievement, Dr. Al Olama Undersecretary of the Ministry, affirmed that obtaining ISO certifications is yet another milestone in the history of the ministry and further highlights the efficiency of the ministry’s performance and its aspiration to enhance its leading position in health care services.

“ISO certifications are the highest international accreditation granted to medical laboratories and are followed by the oldest American and European healthcare

institutions as a global methodology for building high-quality medical laboratory systems,” added Al Olama.

He stressed that the ministry is very keen to apply the highest quality standards in more than 100 medical labs to consolidate its competitive position in the health care sector and enhance the UAE’s reputation as a regional hub in the field of diagnostic laboratory services.

Regional Reference

“The ministry is pressing ahead with opening new scopes of cooperation with its partners in Pure Health. It is doing its best to make its labs a regional reference point and boost the capabilities of its services. Our end goal is not only to receive samples from other public and private health facilities in the UAE, but also from the region countries, which saves the state financial expenditures annually in exchange for sending samples to perform required analyzes” Al Olama also said.

Connecting labs online

For his part, HE Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Centers and Clinics Sector said that the Ministry of Health takes pride in providing the best services in its labs, in partnership with Pure Health, one of the international companies specialized in conducting tissue-related analyzes such as early oncology, the hematology and biochemistry laboratory, the parasitology laboratory, immunology laboratory and the anatomical pathology lab.

He emphasized that the ministry seeks to achieve further quality at its labs through connecting all labs electronically in one network and providing professional and medical staff trained at the highest levels and global practices, which enhances operational efficiency and the development of the entire infrastructure based on technology and artificial intelligence.
