Dubai, UAE: As part of its efforts to promote cooperation with stakeholders in the UAE and the wider region to enhance governance, public administration, and to support public policy-making processes, the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Signed on Wednesday, May 05, 2021, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Sabaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, and Dr. Sherifa Fouad Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, as well as a number of officials from both parties, the agreement aims to enhance joint cooperation in developing human capabilities, research and studies in the field of governance and government administration sciences.
“The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government strives to advance government work within the UAE and the region by presenting international best practices on government administration and public policies. It pursues this objective in a manner that meets the aspirations of countries in the region to realise their strategic plans under the umbrella of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals,” said His Excellency Dr Ali Bin Sabaa Al-Marri.
“To achieve maximum benefit through the spreading and sharing of knowledge, we constantly seek to conduct partnerships with the region’s institutions that share our strategic vision and which can contribute to achieving our goals. This cooperative model is the approach of our wise leadership, which we follow to reach the highest levels of competitiveness among all countries,” His Excellency added.
“We are delighted to partner with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development in Egypt, and we are confident that through our strategic relationship we will meet our goals. The UAE and Egypt enjoy exceptional bilateral relations in all fields, as well as share unified visions for economic and social development - this will underpin our partnership and help ensure its success. We will work with the institute to develop areas of cooperation and raise the efficiency of government to contribute to achieving comprehensive development and strengthening the position of the UAE and Egypt in an array of fields,” continued His Excellency.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa Ahmed Fouad Mahmoud Sharif, Executive Director of the Institute, said: “The NIGSD is committed to its cooperative approach in partnering with relevant local and international institutions, and we value the distinguished and deep-seated bilateral relations between Egypt and the UAE. With that in mind, the Institute sought to partner with MBRSG to collaborate on building capacities, developing human capabilities, and conducting in-depth research in the fields of governance and government administration sciences.”
“We signed the MoU because we recognise the importance of cooperation between think tanks knowledgeable and involved in governance and public administration,” Dr. Sharif added. “The agreement also aims to support public policy making, building on the role that the Institute plays in developing and upgrading administrative systems, as well as in advancing human capabilities through training, advisory, and research services.”
“Another reason we strived to establish this partnership was MBRSG’s advanced research capabilities and its role in supporting government excellence in the UAE and the wider region,” the NIGSD Executive Director explained. “By signing this agreement, both our organisations commit to exploring areas of potential cooperation and common interest, developing and implementing plans and training programmes, upskilling leaders, spearheading scientific research, and documenting government practices. The end-goal is to invest all of this added value towards achieving our strategic objectives.”
According to the terms of the MoU, MBRSG and NIGSD will cooperate in developing and implementing specialised training programmes, conducting research and studies, publishing and documenting best experiences, practices and services, and exchanging statistics in the fields of government administration, smart governance, innovation and other areas of mutual interest.
The agreement also mandates the cooperation of the two parties in the field of organising panels, meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences to exchange ideas and proposals, as well as designing creative and innovative programmes. It also includes organising joint knowledge field trips between students of the two parties, in addition to exchanging trainers and experts to achieve maximum mutual benefit.
