The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE has invited solar Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) and commercial leasing companies to pre-qualify for the emirate’s first aggregated solar tender.
Ras Al Khaimah Municipality has launched a pre-qualification invite for distributed solar projects in multiple locations in the emirate following successful completion of a pilot solar carport project.
Reem, the energy efficiency and renewables office of the Municipality, would manage part of the procurement process on behalf of the end-clients through a joint tender, representing a first example of its type in Ras Al Khaimah, according to a statement to the media.
A total capacity of up to 15 megawatts would be offered through the aggregated solar tender, a municipality official confirmed with Zawya.
The statement said the solar photovoltaic (PV) projects are expected to be implemented in 2021.
It said the projects located in various government and private facilities are of various types, including rooftop, carport and ground-mounted installations.
The deadline for submitting pre-qualification documents 10 October 2020, the statement noted.
RAK Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040 targets 30 percent energy savings, 20 percent water savings, and 20 percent generation from renewable energy sources by 2040.
