MANAMA: The total cost of electricity production from all Electricity and water Authority’s (EWA) stations and private plants stand at 23 fils per unit while the cost of water production is 415 fils per unit, said Water and Electricity Affairs Minister Wael Al Mubarak.

The cost of electricity production from EWA’s stations is 22.9 fils per unit and 535 fils for water production per unit, he added.

He made the statement in reply to a question by MP Ahmed Al Salloom on the production cost of electricity and water.

The total value of electricity and water bills collection from all subscribers amounted to BD416 million in 2019 and BD409m last year, he pointed out.

The authority purchased BD388m worth of electricity and water units from private companies in 2019 and units worth BD415m last year due to an increase in gas prices and rising demand for electricity and water services, he said, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
