Kuwait has pre-qualified five international companies to bid for an engineering and management consultancy services contract for one of its oil companies, local newspapers reported on Sunday.

The state-owned Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) invited those companies for a meeting on March 15 to present details of the contract and it set May 3 as the deadline for bidding, Alanba and other dailies said.

It quoted a KIPIC statement as saying the contract involves "providing KIPIC with engineering and management services" to support its future project strategy.

The five firms include the London-based Amec Foster Wheeler Group, Technip FMC, Fluor and KBR of the US and UK-based Worley Europe.
