Dubai, UAE – BASF, the world's leading chemical company, today announced the appointment of Dr Udo Huenger as the new vice president for operations in the Middle East, Egypt and Iran. He will be based at BASF’s regional headquarters in Dubai, UAE.

In more than a decade of experience with the company, Dr Huenger has held several leadership positions, most recently as director of Refining Catalysts for Europe and the Middle East. In his new role as vice president in the Middle East, he will be responsible for driving BASF’s new corporate strategy in the region, accelerating growth, and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Dr Markus Kramer, president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa at BASF SE, said: “We are pleased to welcome Dr Udo Huenger to his new role. He has a keen understanding of the region and our business that spans almost every industry in the Middle East. We are confident he will add significant value in spearheading our next phase of growth in the region.”

He added: “The Middle East is an important region for BASF, given its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Many of our customers in the region are diversifying their portfolios and we see a strong drive towards localized, advanced manufacturing. This offers new opportunities, but also challenges, to BASF’s regional operations, which we are ready to face head-on.”

In closing, he said: “We are proud to contribute to the success of our customers in the region. With the appointment of Dr Huenger, we have strengthened our commitment to our customers and operations that help advance sustainability.”
