Abu Dhabi Ports to achieve 51% Emiratisation in 2016

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone in the Emirate, and its subsidiary - Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), which operates Khalifa Port Container Terminal, will unveil more than 100 job openings for Emiratis next week, as part of their commitment towards the UAE's Emiratisation drive. At Tawdheef, Abu Dhabi's leading recruitment event for UAE Nationals, the two entities will jointly greet Emirati job seekers with details of the employment opportunities currently available for port operations staff and clerks.

The maritime business trade enabler in the Emirate, Abu Dhabi Ports, is presenting the job opportunities for Emirati talents as part of its well-planned efforts to achieve 51 per cent Emiratisation in 2016.  Building on the 47 per cent Emiratisation rate achieved in 2015, the company will also detail its tailor-made mentoring, training and development programmes to develop Emirati talent, at the three-day event to be held from February 1 to 3 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

"Along with job offers, we will also tell the young nationals the success stories of our Emirati employees, including women, who have excelled in their important and responsible positions. Their achievements prove that Abu Dhabi Ports has been successful in providing the Emiratis with exceptional opportunities and environment for personal and professional growth, beyond merely attracting them to the company," said Abdullah Al Hameli, Vice President-Emiratisation, HR & Administration, at Abu Dhabi Ports.

"Tawdheef is an ideal opportunity for us to narrate those stories of excellence, accomplished with the guidance and support from our wise leadership, to the young Emiratis who are looking for a promising career," he added.

Eisa Hasan Al Marzouqi, Senior HR Director at Abu Dhabi Terminals, said: "Emiratisation is Abu Dhabi Terminals' top priority and we are committed to have UAE Nationals in all levels of the organization, from senior and middle management to supervisory and practical roles in operations and engineering positions at Khalifa Port Container Terminal.

For career development, there is an ongoing training programme, which focuses on the training and education of the UAE nationals and provides them with opportunities for advancement," he said.

Abu Dhabi Ports will offer 64 jobs and Abu Dhabi Terminals 63 positions across all departments of the two companies. On-the-spot interviews will be conducted and applications will be collected for these positions at Tawdheef.

The selected candidates will have the opportunity to undergo intensive training programmes conducted at the state-of-the-art training facilities, and on-the-job practical training.  A dedicated mentor will extend support and guidance to them on all career related matters.

Abu Dhabi Ports has several programmes to attract Emirati talents, and to train and develop the existing Emirati staff.  Under a mentoring programme to nurture local talents, the Abu Dhabi Ports' managers will guide and support selected young Emiratis on career development. The company has partnered with Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning (HBP Corporate Learning) to offer a management training programme for employees.

Another programme named NAWRUS ('The National Way to Ramp up Success') encourages Emiratis to take up positions within port operations. The PIER (Ports International Executive Road) programme fast tracks Emirati employees' promotion to the top leadership positions. Under 'Port Pulse', employees volunteer to be trained for managing and running the entire port operations.
