ABU DHABI- Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch, TRANSCO, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, ADWEA, has launched a package of new expansion projects in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and the northern region, at a total cost of AED359 million.

Abdullah Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the ADWEA Board of Directors, said the projects are part of the authoritys five-year (2016-2020) plan, aimed at sustaining efficiency of water and electricity services to consumers.

The package includes an AED189-million project to link the Barakah nuclear power plant to a 400 KV power transmission station through a dual line between Baraka and Bab. Another project entails linking the four reactors of Baraka nuclear power plant with TRANSCO's central control centre at a total cost of AED27 million.

Other projects include expansion works in the power stations of Madinat Zayed, Al Saadiyat, Al Bahiya and Al Shamkha South.

TRANSCO is also carrying out works to extend a pipeline of 1,400mm diameter from Al Mirfa Water Plant to its pumping station. The project is being executed at a total cost of AED8.4 million.

The company is also engaged in an AED5.8-million project to upgrade points 2 and 4, along the Fujairah water transmission pipeline.
