Mubasher: Vodafone Qatar on Monday announced that the company has started providing Hamad Port with world-class telecommunications services, including fixed and mobile.

This comes under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between Vodafone Qatar and the Hamad Port Project Steering Committee, the entity tasked with the design and development of the port.

The project will provide Hamad Port with high-speed mobile coverage solutions and a high-speed fibre technology network, according to the company’s statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).

“Hamad Port’s role in growing our country’s national economy is very significant and we at Vodafone Qatar are proud to support this. Using our understanding of the local market and drawing on the resources and expertise of Vodafone globally,” the company commented.

Hamad Port is one of the world’s largest Greenfield port developments, and it was officially opened in September 2017 in Umm Al Houl area.

It is worth noting that the company did not mention further details concerning the project's total cost.

By 09:40 am Qatar time, Vodafone Qatar’s stock declined 0.12% at QAR 8.18.
