ABU DHABI- The Ministry of Interior, MOI, has participated in a workshop on supporting the national efforts of law enforcement departments and early responders against human trafficking, recently held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The workshop was held in cooperation with and coordination between the General Administration of Investigation and Criminal Evidence at the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC, in the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, region, with the participation of representatives from the office and the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Justice and Islamic Affairs and Endowments, as well as the Labour Market Regulatory Authority in GCC countries.
Colonel Hamad Rashid Al Zaabi, Deputy-Director of the Federal Investigation Department of the Federal Criminal Police General Administration at the Ministry of Interior, addressed the types and patterns of human trafficking crimes, methods to interview victims and witnesses in line with the best relevant international standards, as well as identifying victims, how to gather evidence, and provide for their needs and build their confidence.
Colonel Al Zaabi presented a model of the best interview management practices, which include planning, preparation, interpretation and assessment. He also addressed the types of places to hold interviews with victims, as well as the necessary equipment required to conduct interviews and ensure the safety of victims. He also emphasised that the ministry is exerting considerable efforts to combat human trafficking, by issuing laws and legislation and undertaking the required legal procedures.
