Manama: The Premier’s Court continues to follow up on the progress of developmental and service projects in various governorates, including housing, health, municipalities and other services.

This is in line with the vision of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who has always stressed that the welfare of citizens is the ultimate goal of the government, and that efforts are focused towards achieving the best for them.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf held a meeting at the Premier’s Court, during which he reviewed the progress of projects that the Premier had earlier ordered to be fast-tracked.

Among those reviewed was the Saada Project in Muharraq Governorate. It consists of two stages with the first one (the western side) expected to be completed by the end of this month. Consultants have been appointed for the second phase (the eastern side). It will include a multi-storey car park and a traditional market.

The project, which includes a pedestrian bridge, sea coast, a marina for boats, a walkway and dedicated area for restaurants and cafes, will be built on the site that is currently occupied by Muharraq Post Office.

Establishment of the Khalifa City Health Centre – which the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and Health ministries were directed by the Prime Minister to establish as a model health centre with state- of-the-art equipment – was also discussed.

Work on the two-storey centre is expected to begin this month. It will contain a number of departments including medical consultations and services, a pharmacy, a radiology unit, a lab, an emergency unit, oral and dental health, child and maternity care units, reception and health records.

Work on the Multiple Sclerosis Centre (MS) in Muharraq is progressing with 24 per cent of the project complete. It is expected to be complete by July 2021.

It consists of seven consultancy clinics, a laboratory, an MRI department, a daily care unit, a physiotherapy department and another for manual therapy, in addition to two external and internal pharmacies, a research centre, a lecture hall and medical warehouses.

The long stay care unit, located within the Muharraq Medical Complex, was reviewed. Scheduled to be completed in May 2020, it includes nursing units for 106 beds, physiotherapy department and specialised consulting clinics, in addition to a laboratory and X-ray centre, a pharmacy, and support services, including medical and administrative offices.

Muharraq Grand Park, the Busaiteen Waterfront Development Project, needs of the people of Sanabis and Marozan villages and the expansion of Al Jasra Mosque were also discussed.
