UAE: The total value of exports and re-exports of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry member companies to China recorded AED 283.2 million in May 2020, up 27% year-on-year (YoY).

The Chamber has issued 256 Certificates of Origin (COOs) targeting China in May, up 26% from the corresponding period in 2019.

Vegetable oil has accounted for 53% of the total value of member exports and re-exports to China, while plastics represented 25% of the total, followed by food processing waste with 12% of the total.

The members' higher exports and re-exports to China reflect the development in the emirate's capacity to extract and process rapeseed oil and meet the growing demands of the Asian country.

During the first five months of 2020, the total number of COOs issued for China-bound shipments totalled 1,100, which is almost double the number issued in the year-ago period.
