Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) said steady progress is being made on its premium seafront development, Sa`ada West, located on the Muharraq coast adjacent to Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Causeway, with nearly 60 per cent of work already completed.

Edamah, the real-estate unit of the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, said Sa'ada is a first-of-its-kind waterfront development mainly designed to cater to the needs of a diverse base of Bahraini locals and tourists, as well as serving the requirements from an investor and business perspective, providing the tenants with a differentiated project.

It features a variety of public facilities, including restaurants, kiosks, and a promenade, alongside various other services, enabling the development to emerge as a value-adding project for the community at large.

According to Edamah, the premium mixed-use waterfront project is being implemented in two phases. In Phase One, a 18,000-sq-m area has been reclaimed and prepared besides seawalls and jetties being constructed, while in Phase Two, currently under way, seven new buildings are being built featuring a total of 45 retail and food and beverage (F&B) units in addition to a multi-storey car-park building, it stated.

With a mix of both retail and hospitality spaces, the Sa`ada West is envisioned to house a promenade with family entertainment, an experience of harbour-side dining and a modern marina hosting an array of boats.

Ali Al Rumaihi, the head of corporate financing at Edamah, said: "Phase One consists of the development of restaurants and cafes with spectacular sea facing views, and a harbour for cruise boats and other leisure facilities."

The Phase Two will see the development of a centrally-located, multi-storey car parking building, acting as a link between the culturally rich Muharraq Souq complete with a modern waterfront promenade and pedestrian bridge, explained Al Rumaihi.

With the work in full swing, all the seven buildings will get completed in September and the 200-space car park will be ready for use in November. Mohammed Jalal Contracting is under taking the phased construction work.-TradeArabia News Service
