UAE - Thumbay Group announced that it will inaugurate new medical city, one of the latest additions to the UAE’s healthcare sector, with an investment of more than AED 1 billion ($272 million).

Located in Ajman with a total area of 1 million square feet (sq ft) and built-up area of 1.2 million sq ft, Thumbay Medicity would serve over 20,000 people daily, with advanced facilities in education healthcare, research, leisure and fitness, Arabian Business reported, citing the UAE-based healthcare firm.

The new city would house the largest private medical university in the region with six colleges and 25 accredited programmes, a private academic hospital with 500 beds and more than 120 clinics, among other facilities.

Moreover, the city would include physical and rehabilitation hospital, with 50 beds and a therapeutic garden, and it would operate in cooperation with internationally renowned Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Center in Italy.
