Dubai: Amanat Holdings on Monday has said that it is not an investor in The Abraaj Group, including the projects and funds managed by the ailing private equity firm.

The GCC’s largest healthcare and education investment firm has signed a share purchase agreement with Mocha Education Holdings on 8 June to acquire a 100% stake in Middlesex Associates, which holds and operates Middlesex University in Dubai, Amanat said in a statement to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

This deal was signed in line with the provisional liquidators being appointed in respect of Abraaj Holdings and Abraaj Investment Management Limited, the statement showed.

The Abraaj Group has notified Amanat that Abraaj Holdings is a limited partner in investment funds with third parties and it holds an indirect 6% stake in Middlesex Associates, according to the statement.

The transaction is subject to a number of conditions for completion, and Dubai-based Amanat will disclose the details of the transactions in accordance with the market and the authority rules once the conditions are being fulfilled.
