Dubai - The region's first dedicated event for online content creators, VIDXB, was opened by Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The two-day event is organised by the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC).Shaikh Mansour, who was accompanied by Mona Ganem Al Merri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, and Jamal Al Sharif, DFTC Chairman, was briefed on the latest technologies used by creators to generate content and share it with millions of followers on social media platforms.

Shaikh Mansour welcomed the idea of creating a dedicated event for digital content creation that gathers industry professionals and budding creators, and offering them a chance to learn about the latest tools and techniques to build an online presence.

Shaikh Mansour also highlighted the positive impact of quality digital content on societies.Describing VIDXB as part of the Dubai Film and TV Commission's 2020 vision, Al Sharif underlined the importance of such events in enhancing Dubai's position as a destination for the film industry."VIDXB has been months in the making, and opening the doors today and seeing the idea becoming a reality is very special.

There has been a real gap in the market for an event like this and the demand for all its programmes -- from fan meet-and-greets and creator performances to industry workshops and panel sessions -- has been overwhelming," he said."We look forward to seeing the creativity continuing to flow across the weekend and have no doubt that VIDXB will successfully cement its position as a catalyst for digital media production in the region," he added.

With an extensive line-up of talent from across the globe, skilled creators at VIDXB represent a range of entertainment verticals, showcasing content-makers from the Beauty, Comedy, Cooking, E-Sports, Automotive, Travel, Family, and Arts sectors.

Events at VIDXB included a live cooking demonstration from Chef Samar, an E-Sports session with UK-based gamer and performer KSI, and a tutorial on beauty content creation with Noor Stars, Nuha Style, Esswara and YoTips, to name a few.International YouTuber Casey Neistat spoke about his meteoric rise to success, how he became the gold standard of vlogging, and shared insights on how he developed his own brand aesthetic and storytelling approach.

Online megastars including Lele Pons, Anwar Jibawi, Inanna Sarkis, Hannah Stocking, and many others interacted with their fans and followers.

VIDXB kicks off a year-round series of initiatives from the Dubai Film and TV Commission to promote local content, showcase emerging technologies, and facilitate skills development for Dubai's growing digital media talent pool.
