Adding the low-cost Turkish carrier to its airline network

Amman, 27 March 2016

Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) - welcomed the arrival of the first Pegasus Airlines flight from Ankara to Amman in the presence of H.E. Sedat Onal, Turkish Ambassador to Jordan. This step corresponds with Airport International Group's ongoing efforts to expand its airline network and to develop route incentive schemes that encourage airlines to operate flights through QAIA.

Bringing the low-cost Turkish airline to Jordan for the first time, the inaugural flight marked the commencement of three regular roundtrip Pegasus Airlines flights between QAIA and Esenboğa International Airport in Ankara, Turkey. Tickets are available through Naouri Group, Pegasus Airlines' general sales agent in Jordan.

"Pegasus Airlines represents a welcome addition to QAIA's ever-expanding airline network, providing increased options to our passengers while also reinforcing Jordan's position as a dynamic hub for business, leisure and investment within the region," commented Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group. "Our efforts to attract a greater number of regional and international airlines to QAIA are consistent with our support of National Tourism Strategy objectives, under which we strive to contribute to the Kingdom's economy as a whole by enhancing its ability to attract foreign direct investments and bolstering tourism to the Kingdom."

On his part, Ibrahim Naouri, Chairman of Naouri Group, said, "Pegasus Airlines, a leading low-cost airline in the region, was founded with the mission that everyone has the right to fly, and we are pleased to be bringing the airline here so that it may now exercise that philosophy in Jordan. We have introduced a variety of packages to cover different travelers' tastes, providing affordable passage to most parts of Europe, which will surely reflect positively not only on the local travel industry, but also Jordanian-Turkish business and tourism relations."
