Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has shortlisted eight international and local companies for its tender seeking proposals to provide consultancy and preliminary design services for Bahrain Metro extension to Bahrain Sport City, according to a Tender Board notice.

A total of 11 companies had submitted bids out of which three were suspended, the notice posted last week said.

The eight bidders are Egis; Gulf Markets International; Consolidated Engineering Company Khatib & Alami; Mohamed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (two options); SENER Ingenieria y Sistemas; Dar Al Handash Consultants (Shair & Partners); INTECSAINARSA and AECOM Middle East.

The suspended bidders were RINA Consulting SPA-Abu Dhabi; IDOM Consulting Engineering Architecture SAU and ACE Consulting Engineers (Moharram - Bakhoum) and Partner.

In February 2021, Zawya Projects had reported that Bahrain launched a procurement process based on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to build its national metro network.
