Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has invited expression of interest (EOIs) for developing accommodation villages for its staff and contractor workforce across Oman as part of Manazil project.

PDO said in an invite last week that it requires over 30,000 permanent accommodation beds to be built across 12 strategic industrial areas within its concession area, namely Fahud, Kauther, Lekhwair, Qarn Alam, Saih Rawl (Mabrouk) and Yibal in the North; and Amal (Al Noor), Bahja (Zauliyah), Harweel, Marmul, Nimr and Rima in the South.

The invite said the villages would be developed on the design, build, own, operate and maintain (DBOOM) model with the option to transfer. Bidders can respond with greenfield accommodation solutions or reconfiguration and/or extension of existing facilities and infrastructure, and/or asset re-use.

The tenders will be floated in first quarter 2020 with submissions for technical bid scheduled for second quarter and commercial bid for third quarter 2020. Tender award is expected in first quarter of 2021, the invite said.

The invite said the project seeks to move away from a fragmented approach to a fully integrated, standardized and outsourced model for worker accommodation and welfare at a competitive cost.
