Muscat: Small and medium business owners from Oman taking part at Expo 2020 in Dubai were provided ideas on how to sell their products and advertise them to potential customers when they travel to the UAE later this year.

Featuring a number of workshops, lectures and seminars intended to give business owners advice, the Expo 2020 awareness campaign is being run from July 1 until the end of October, and will focus on those involved in manufacturing and production.

This campaign is among the initiatives supported by the country, represented by the General Commission of the Sultanate at the Expo 2020 Dubai in cooperation with a number of government entities including the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Social Development, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Authority for SME Development, and Taiseer, the Oman Trading Platform.

The campaign for this project is managed by Taiseer, in cooperation with the Industrial Innovation Centre, Al Muheet Institute, and Muscat Media Group, who are media sponsors.

In July, nine lectures were held as part of the campaign, alongside training workshops and discussion sessions, totalling more than 22 hours of interaction.

12 lecturers and speakers were involved in leading these events, which focus on marketing models and saw participation of 950 producers, industrialists and craftsmen.

The programme for this month was inaugurated on August 2, with a workshop delivered by Mohammed Al Kamzari, a specialist at the Industrial Innovation Centre. The workshop was organised under the theme “Safe methods for import of industrial production lines”.

This workshop will be followed by another, on August 4, titled “Manufacturers: between design and position”, which is to be delivered by Mohammed Khurais.

Another workshop on August 5, called “Training and development; your way to excellence”, will be helmed by Jamal Al Hadi from Oman Post.

A lecture on the “Concept of sustainability and economies of SMEs” will be delivered by Musab Al Sabahi, from Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah) on Sunday, August 8. On Tuesday, August 10, a lecture on “Fluctuations of domestic manufacturing and mechanisms of development” has been scheduled by Dr Bashaer Al Riyami from the Industrial Innovation Centre.

"A workshop on the preparation of product posters as per GCC specifications is scheduled for 12 August, and will be delivered by Atyab Food Tech Labs. Following this is a lecture on “Management of small projects” by Mohammed Suwailim from Al Muheet Institute on August 15.

A discussion session on the “Craftsmen of the 21st Century” will be held on August 17, following by one on recycling two days later, hosted by Muneera Al Mukhaini from Oman LNG.
