Oman has awarded new contracts worth around 24.3 million Omani rials ($63 million) covering construction, health and other sectors, the local media reported on Thursday.

The Tender Board approved the contracts at a meeting on Wednesday and decided to discuss more projects next week, Al-Watan and other Omani dailies said.

The largest project approved on Wednesday involves the construction of new office buildings for the public prosecution in Irfan city in Muscat governorate at a cost of about 15 million rials ($39 million), the report said.

Other projects include installation of new equipment and maintenance work at the Sultani Hospital in the capital Muscat and road maintenance in the Southern Dhofar governorate, the report added without mentioning firms that won the contracts.
