The Musaffah Bridge toll gate is relocated a day ahead of the implementation of tolls in Abu Dhabi. Till date, the toll road leading out of the city was positioned faultily and motorists riding towards Mussafah, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain and Sweihan had a chance to evade payment of fee.

Motorists could take an exit before the toll gate to Bawabat Abu Dhabi Street and join the main road of Khaleej Al Arabi Street.

However, the Department of Transport - Abu Dhabi (DoT) has moved the toll gate by 15-20m to cover the exit, thereby, plugging the only loophole for motorists to avoid paying Dh4 (peak hours) or Dh2 (non-peak hours).

"I was keenly following the positioning and found out that the toll gate has been moved today," Faisal T., a marketing executive at a private company, said.

"This blocks the only chink in the four toll gates raised on all the four bridges. However we have time till New year to start paying the fee," the Abu Dhabi resident added.

Earlier on Sunday, the DoT had clarified that even as toll gate will be implemented from Tuesday, motorists will not be charged until January 1, 2020.
