RABAT, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Morocco's annual consumer price inflation rose to 2.1 percent in January from 1.8 percent in December due to higher food and non-food prices, the High Planning Authority said on Wednesday.

Annual food inflation rose to 2.8 percent from 2.5 percent the previous month. Non-food price inflation rose to 2.6 percent in the year to January, up from 1.4 percent in December.

Communications costs fell 0.2 percent, but transportation was 3.6 percent more expensive, the agency said.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose to 0.2 percent in January, from 0.1 percent in December as non-food price inflation rose to 0.4 percent, up from 0.1 percent.
