Kuwait has invited bids for a project to construct a plant to extract metals from spent catalyst at its oil facilities, a local newspaper said on Thursday.

The state-owned Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has set June 13 as a deadline for the pre-qualification of bidding firms, the Arabic language daily Alanba said, quoting KNPC sources.

The project will initially have an output capacity of 25 tonnes per year to be raised later to 50-60 tonnes per year, it said.

Companies bidding for the project must have experience in this field and in the local market, the paper added without providing further details of the project.
