GHD, one of the world’s leading professional services companies, has appointed David Kinniburgh as Regional General Manager - UAE, effective from 1 July 2020, as part of the business’s continued evolution in the region. Next year marks GHD’s 20th anniversary in the UAE, as the country continues to establish itself as a global business and investment hub. Its regional offices are located in Abu Dhabi, where David will be based, and Dubai.

Recent projects delivered by GHD in the region include the redevelopment of Qasr Al Hosn, Jubail Island Mangrove Walk, the Masdar Institute Neighbourhood development and the Ghasha offshore gasfield environmental monitoring programme, all in Abu Dhabi, and the Marina Gate development in Dubai.

David has been a valued member of the GHD team for over 25 years, bringing a wealth of experience to his new position in the UAE. He is currently GHD’s Transportation Market Leader - Northern Hemisphere, and has been instrumental in the strategic growth of GHD’s transportation offer in Australia and North America, including major programmes and projects such as the Western Sydney Airport, Sydney Light Rail and Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail, in addition to playing a key role in the development of GHD’s Rail & Transit team in Ontario, and the overall expansion of the California, Ontario and Quebec businesses. David also previously held Regional General Manager roles in Australia’s Sydney and Tasmania regions.

David Kinniburgh, newly appointed Regional General Manager – UAE, said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role and using my decades of experience to drive GHD’s strategic growth in the region. We have had a presence in the UAE for nearly 20 years now, but there is still a lot of room for expansion as we progress our vision to make water, energy and urbanisation sustainable for generations to come. I look forward to working with our clients and the excellent team in the UAE to continue creating lasting benefit for their communities.”

Simon Light, Executive Managing Director for EMEA at GHD, added: “With changing global macro trends and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the UAE continues to play a leading regional role in creating sustainable social, economic and environmental prosperity for a young and rapidly advancing population. GHD is highly committed to developing world-leading, innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of our clients and I have every confidence that David is the right person to lead the regional business in the next stage of our growth story in the UAE market.”
