Sharjah: FUNN, the Sharjah-based organisation that promotes media arts learning among children and youth, and organises the UAE’s only film festival dedicated to this age group, is organising a series of workshops for young photography enthusiasts at the Xposure International Photography Festival, which runs from September 19 – 22, at Expo Centre Sharjah. This is In line with the partnership signed by FUNN and Xposure, in pursuance of Sharjah Government Media Bureau’s mission is to support and integrate the cultural and artistic ecosystem in Sharjah and the UAE. 

The intention is to engage young aspiring shutterbugs through easily accessible, yet professionally crafted courses.

The workshops will cover six subjects: mobile photography, astro photography, food photography, colors contrast, imagination photography and travel photography. They have been designed by experts at Dubai Capture and will be delivered by professional instructors.

Participants will also get a chance to try their luck at a spin wheel to win gifts from Grand Stores. Prizes also include entry tickets to the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF), which will be held next month.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN and SIFF, said, “FUNN’s intention behind organising these workshops is not only to impart technical skills to aspiring photographers, but also stimulate their creative and artistic spirit. We have selected the five topics keeping in mind the developing branches of photography, which can open up new avenues for participants interested in taking it up as a profession.

“The idea is to impart key skills and enable participants to gain inspiration from the works of the world’s best photographers within Xposure’s vibrant environment where the beauty and contributions of photography receive a one-of-a-kind celebration.”

FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children – aims to nurture a future generation of creative artists in media and film industry, and promotes new media works and films made by children and young filmmakers in the UAE at international film festivals and conferences worldwide. Its larger goal is to foster talent through these festivals, conferences and workshops locally and internationally.
