Dubai-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) announced on Tuesday that it has awarded a contract worth 25 million UAE dirhams to extend its cooling service pipeline network to service key real estate developments.

The district cooling services provider said in a press statement that the network would link 'Al Wasl Tower 2020' and the 'Yotel Hotel' in Sheikh Zayed Road, 'The Address Hotel' and the 'One JBR Tower' in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Barsha Heights master development with permanent cooling plants located in the respective areas.

The statement didn't specify the total length of the network extension or the names of the contractors but said extension project would be completed by the end of 2019.

It said the cooling pipe network presently serving Dubai Arena would be extended to serve Al Wasl Tower 2020 with 3,900 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) capacity and Yotel Hotel with 1,500 RT capacity while The Address Hotel would be served with 6,500 RT and the One JBR Tower with 1,550 RT through the existing pipe network at JBR.

CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar said in the statement that Empower's cooling service pipeline network is gradually developing by the years in line with the increase in Dubai's real estate projects.

Empower currently provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers, according to the press statement.
